Maggie scowled. “Don’t eat with your mouth full. And I hope he comes out well. Give him my best wishes.”

I nodded and while I was running out of the house Ambrose and Chris were coming in. I smacked right into them and mumbled an ‘Ow’.

“Why the rush?” Ambrose asked.

“Heading to Mitch’s. he has a surgery in an hour and I’m already running late.”

Ambrose’s eyes widened. “I’m coming with you.”

Chris nodded.

“You don’t really have to.”

“I’m your best friend and your boyfriend is having a surgery in an hour. You’ll need me.”

“And I’m your best friends boyfriend, he’ll need me too. Trust me.” Chris pointed out.

I smiled.

“We’ll follow you.” Chris said and pulled Ambrose away.

-

“Thank you so much for being here.” Emma said as I stepped inside her home.

“No problem. Oh these are Ambrose and Chris. My friends.” I introduced them.

“Nice to meet you miss.” Ambrose said and Chris repeated the same.

Emma smiled. “Thank you really.”

“Where’s Mitch?” I asked looking around.

Emma flinched. “He’s in his room. We’re trying to get him out but he refuses.”

I sighed and we all walked upstairs. Richard, Nathan and Alan were all banging Mitch’s door.

“Hey there girl, mind getting your man out of the cave?” Alan said.

“Mitch?” I yelled.

“Go away!” he snapped.

“Don’t use that tone on me!”

The guys chuckled.

“Oh shut up and leave!”

“Mind if I use some um…”

“You have my permission to insult him freely.” Richard said.

“Mine too. But get him out now.” Emma said.

“Doesn’t anyone have the key?” Chris asked.

“Did I forget to mention my soon is smart and took the extra key?” Emma groaned and Chris blushed.

“Mitch get your ass out here!” I said.

“No!”

“I said I wasn’t leaving and I’m not. So if you don’t get your ass out here I’ll go up that window and-”

The door opened and I was dragged in.

“I’m scared.” he said.

“Everything will be fine.” I touched his cheek and kissed him. “Everything will be fine.” I repeated.

Mitch sighed. “Alright.” he kissed my forehead and grabbed his crutches then he opened the door.

“Lets get this over with.” Mitch said to the rest of his family. “I’ll meet you at the hospital.” he said to me and kissed me.

-

“I’ll be waiting for you.” I said as they started getting him out of the room.

He nodded and kissed me one last time. “I love you.” he mouthed.

“Love you too.” I said back.

Once he was gone we went to the waiting area.

Please God let Mitch come out good. Please.

With the nerves eating me I paced and waited.

Chapter 32

The waiting was killing me.

We’ve been seating, pacing, nearly screaming, waiting for hours. I know these things take time but they could at least give us some sort of information about how Mitch is doing.

Emma was seating next to Richard and has been crying after three hours of Mitch being in the surgery. Richard trying and failing to calm her when he was on the verge of tears too.

Nathan was currently in the bathroom since he also started crying and I guess he was embarrassed.

Alan on the other hand just stared blankly at the white wall across us.

I was leaning onto Ambrose, fighting back the tears. Chris was holding onto Ambrose’s free hand and occasionally murmuring words of comfort.

All this waiting just made me think the worst. Maybe I shouldn’t had convinced him to do it. Maybe he would’ve been better the way he was, not risking his life.

According to the doctors it was a complicated surgery and a dangerous one. That made my heart ache.

Mitch you have to come back to me.

“Keller, let’s go to the cafeteria. Get you something to eat.” Ambrose said and got up.

“I don’t want to.”

“Honey you barely had something to eat. I don’t want you to faint when Mitch comes out.” I’m glad he didn’t say if.

“You should go, I’ll go running to you when he comes out.” Alan reassured me.

I sighed and nodded. Then followed Ambrose and Chris to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was filled with at least ten people, already counting the cashier.

I bought a sandwich and a cup of coffee. I nearly gagged, the sandwich I made at home tasted better. But I ate this one anyways.

Ambrose and Chris grabbed some cookies and a soda. They look so cute together.

I sighed as we sat down and started eating.

“How much longer are we going to wait?” I asked angrily.

Couldn’t they be nice enough to tell us how the surgery is going?

“Be patient. The waiting is worth it Keller.” Chris said.

“He’s right, if they haven’t told us anything is because everything is going good.” Ambrose squeezed my hand in affection.

“I’m just…I don’t even know how I feel anymore.”

They gave me sympathetic looks and I continued to eat.

Exactly thirty minutes later, and I say exactly because I’ve been counting, I heard my name been called and fast footsteps eco on the hallways.

“Keller, girl, Mitch is out.”

Alan didn’t had to repeat himself because I heard him loud and clear, also he didn’t have to drag me away I on my own accord ran towards the waiting area. Emma and Richard where talking to the doctor.

“The surgery was excellent. He will, though, have to be in bed for at least a week so everything is healed. Then he’ll have to work hard on walking. He might limp a little but that’ll be for the first couple of days. Its best if he could take half hour walks everyday.” the doctor kept on but I blocked him out.

Mitch made it. He would walk again.

“Can we see him?” Emma asked.

That caught my attention.

“I’m afraid not. He’s sedated at the moment, he’ll wake up in a few hours be patient. We’ll let you know when you can see him.” with that the doctor left.

And I blacked out.

-

-

“Can you hear me miss?”

I groaned and felt an ache on the side of my head. Slowly I opened my eyes and saw a nurse hovering over me. She moved away and I saw everyone else around the small room. Ambrose
with red eyes, Chris looking relieved, Alan and Nathan glaring at me, Emma and Richard both looking more relaxed as they both sighed.

“You nearly gave us a heart attack.” Richard said.

I frowned. “I’m sorry, what?”

Ambrose frowned. “Name. Tell me your full name.”

“Why would-”

“Just do it!” he snapped.

I glared. “Keller Jezebel Adzharia Novotney.”

“Huh, quiet a name.” Alan commented.

“Shut up. What happened?” I asked Ambrose.

“After you heard the news about Mitch you fainted and fell, none of us saw it coming so you hit your head with the chair and split it open. You only needed four stitches.”

No wonder my head hurt.

“By the way you’ve been sedated for two hours.”

“And Mitch woke up sooner than expected, but that’s a good sign since he feels-”

“What?!” I interrupted Emma and got up really fast. Only I wasn’t fully stable because the ground beneath me moved.

“Take it easy.” Ambrose, who was closer, caught me before I went head first to kiss the floor.

“I want to see him.”

“Of course honey.” Emma said and I held onto Ambrose as they led me to Mitch.

“He’s been asking for you since he woke up. Once he heard you were hurt he was ready to bolt.” Richard said and I felt something in me change.

After a couple of steps I could walk on my own, so I let go of Ambrose as we reached Mitch’s room.

There he was, laying on the white bed with the IV stuck on his arm, looking a bit pale, his hair a jungle mess, his eyelids a bit sleepy and he still managed to look so freaking sexy.

Once he noticed me he smiled. “Come.” he didn’t have to say it twice, slowly I walked up to him until I was holding his hand. Then he motioned me to come closer and I did.

“I made it.” he whispered.

“Yes you did.” I smiled and kissed his forehead. “God I was so worried.” I whispered back.

“I’m here and not planning on going back into that room, its so fucking cold.”

I chuckled and touched his cheek. My god he’s so beautiful.

Then he kissed me. Oh no it wasn’t your normal touch of the lips to show a little bit of affection. It was the I love you so much I want to suck all the air out of your lungs baby. The type of kiss that you thought he was going to eat you. The type that said I want you, I need you. The one that turned you on and made you moan like a lusty beast and made you want to do dirty things.

The type of kiss you DO NOT give in front of your boyfriend’s parents and his friends or your friends.

“Get a room!” someone said but I didn’t know who. I was too concentrated on breathing.

I pulled away panting. Oh sweet oxygen come on baby, get into my lungs. That’s it, good boy.

I cast a look at our viewers and turned away, embarrassed. I wanted to punch Mitch but I’ll be mean because I loved the kiss.

Every single one of them was blushing. Well except Ambrose who is immune to this type of thing. It’ll be a different story if it were two guys.

Anyways Mitch smirked and then looked really worried and pissed.

“What happened to your head?!”

I sighed. “It’s nothing, don’t-”

“Don’t you dare tell me not to worry, Keller.” God I love how he says my name, wish he’ll use it more.

I opened my mouth to explain but was silenced by Ambrose.

“She was going nuts.”

“And she heard you came out good.” Chris continued.

“She was so thrilled that she wanted to be cool and she blacked out.” I glared at Alan.

“There was a chair and BAM! She hit her head.” Nathan said sounding a bit comical.

“The doctor gave her four stitches.” Richard continued with my tale of unfortunate events in lest than three minutes.

“She’ll be fine.” Emma smiled.

Gee, thanks for making me look like a fool.

“She wouldn’t have those stitches if one of you had caught her before she bashed her head!” Mitch said angrily.

“Hey calm down, I’m fine. It wasn’t their fault.’ I said.

He glared at them then at me. “You’re such and idiot.”

“You’re the idiot, idiot.”

He smiled and mouthed. “Love you.”

“Me too.” I said out loud.

After that we all talked. Mitch occasionally giving me worried glances and I just smiled to reassure him I was fine even though I felt a tad bit dizzy.

Alan and Nathan were telling some suggestive jokes that had both Richard and Emma shifting uncomfortably but they also laughed along. Then we started talking about embarrassing moments and that’s when Richard and Emma won us. They had so many things to say that I stared at them in awe. They were so perfect for each other. They both met in high school, became a couple on their junior year and since they have been unstoppable. You could feel the love waves radiating from them miles away.

I wish my mom was here, I wish dad would get better.

“I’m sorry I need to check on the patient.” a young nurse said and came to stand next to Mitch on the other side of the bed from where I was seating.

“Feeling any pain?” she asked.

“A little.”

She nodded and shot him a flirty look.

What. The. Fuck.?!

“I’ll bring you some pills.” then she turned to look at us. “Visiting hours are over, only one of you can stay.”

“I’ll stay.” Emma said before I could offer but she was the mom, I’ll stay another day.

“Go home, I’ll call you if anything.” she told Richard and he kissed her.

Nathan and Alan said their goodbyes to Mitch, so did Ambrose and Chris. Richard kissed his son’s forehead and left the room.

“Not kissing me good bye?” Mitch asked with an adorable look on his face.

“Of course I am.” I smiled and gave him a slow and gentle kiss. “I’ll be back tomorrow. Don’t give your mom too much trouble.”

Emma chuckled. “That’s next to impossible but we can hope.”
