Action plan
There is a real need to strengthen the immune system here. Poor eating and a junk-food diet sets you up for these kinds of infections. It is imperative to eat a healthy whole food diet and to take a multivitamin/mineral complex daily to cover possible nutrient deficiencies.
EAT/DRINK
Plenty of fruits and vegetables, including vegetable juices to aid immune function.
Shiitake mushrooms, sprouted seeds, and sprouted pulses, plus lots of raw foods for the immune system.
Zinc-rich foods, including seeds, chickpeas, and tahini.
AVOID
Any possible allergenic foods.
Sugar and refined carbohydrates, which are not helpful to the immune system.
HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS
The herb astragalus is a fantastic immune supporter.
Sage tea is recommended as an immune booster.
An eye bath of the herbs eyebright or chamomile can really soothe and help inflamed eyelids.
Take capsules of beta-carotene for a week to help fight infection.
Zinc citrate. Liquid algae and slippery elm are also sources of zinc.
EXTRA TIPS
An old-fashioned remedy is to place a slice of cold bread over your eye.
