Lost In Our Darkness (Demons Of Darkness Book 2) (6 page)

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I got Zoelle settled down and by the time she was tucked into bed asleep and I made my way back out to the common room Trix and Payne were gone.

I sat at the bar with a bottle of whiskey trying to drink her away when Venom sat down next to me.

"Got everything we need. Ready to roll out tomorrow."

"Good. That's real good. This lockdown is wearing on me. I need to get out of here."

"You need to calm down on that whiskey Prez."

"Nah it's all I got to keep me from killing Payne right now."

"You know you need to let her go. I know you don't want to hear it but you got a wife and a kid on the way and she isn't a club whore you can claim and keep for yourself."

"Fuck you."

"Stop letting her get to you Nix. She's not worth it. No bitch is and I'm tired of watching her turn you into a fucking teenage boy."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Just take a look in the mirror Nix. You’re different when she's around and when you guys were together shit was real good around here and when you’re not and she's not here things were great. She comes back around and isn't yours and look at you. Can't make decisions, can't function, moody as all hell. Just like a teenage boy going through puberty."

"Fuck you."

"If I could I would put a bullet in her head to give you some peace but I'm not sure that would help you any. And she's Nitro's daughter. I don't want him on my bad side."

“Her being dead won’t change anything. She is who she is and I am going to make her see who she really is. She needs to see that she shouldn’t have left in the first place. She can be a mother and a black hearted bitch at the same time.”

“Nah it don’t work that way Nix. She’s going to hate you if you make her kill again. She may have once been a black hearted killing machine but once that baby was born things changed for her. That little boy changed her and you need to see that. Just wait until you hold that baby in your arms for the first time. The only person she is going to kill is someone who threatens her little boy. That’s all.”

“She will always be a killer Venom. She has a kiss of death. One kiss and you’re completely addicted to her. Then she turns her back on you making you want more of something you’re never going to get.”

“Get over it. Let Payne deal with her. Although now that he’s had a taste of her he may try sticking around a bit. How you feel about that one.”

“I can send him away easier then I can her. More than likely she is just trying to rub it in my face. She’ll get bored sooner or later.”

Chapter Eight

This was it. Time to do something that I promised myself I wouldn't do. Didn't matter though. I was good at breaking promises to myself. I slid on the black leather pants I hadn't worn in forever.  They still somehow fit like a second skin. I pulled a black tank over my head and pulled on my black leather jacket. I zipped it up and checked the pockets. A pair of blood stained leather gloves. Well that wouldn't have been good if someone would have found them. I looked over at Zaiden who was playing with his toy trucks on the floor.

Fuck. I don't want to go back to this. But I have too. It was for him. If this didn't get taken care of Zaiden would be out a mother, and possibly his father. Where would that leave him. The exact same place it left me as a baby. He deserved better. I would do what I had to do to make sure he didn't end up in the system.

I kneeled down next to him. "Mommy's got to leave for a bit. I love you Z." I placed a kiss to both cheeks and another on top of his head. He giggled as he flailed his arms throwing his trucks. I smiled. "Be good for Cheyenne." I heard a soft knock at the door. I opened it and let Cheyenne in.

"Thanks for watching him."

"This little guy is the best. How could I say no. Actually little guy," she kneeled down on the floor next to him, "you may just be my favorite male in this place. Well maybe you’re tied with your grandpa. He's pretty awesome too. Maybe that's where you get it from. Because I know it's not from your daddy," she laughed.  I slid my feet into my black boots and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind me.

I made my way out back and dropped my blood stained gloves in the bonfire. I sat down on the picnic table and tied my boots as I watched the gloves turn to ash.

"You ready?" It was Nix. I turned to him and nodded as I stood up and followed him inside. Nitro was sitting at the bar nursing a beer. Red, Payne, Venom, and Ghost were standing by the doors waiting to head out. "How we doin this?" I asked Nix as we made our way to everyone.

"Same as always. Trix. You know how it's done."

"I don't have any of my shit Nix."

He stopped at the bar and one of the prospects handed him a black duffle bag. I knew that bag. It was mine. He turned around and tossed it to me. It hit me directly in my chest causing me to take a step back. The bag was heavier then I remembered. I followed them outside and got in the passenger front seat of the van. Everyone else piled in the back. Red got in the drivers side. I looked down at the bag now sitting on my lap as memories came flooding back. I unzipped it and looked inside. It was exactly as it was. I pulled my G17 out and checked the clip. Full. Pushing the clip back in I slid the slide back making sure there was one in the chamber and slid it in the pocket inside my jacket. Next I pulled out a six-inch knife and holster and strapped it to my thigh. Making sure it was tight so that it wouldn't fall off. I pulled out a new pair of leather gloves and slid them on. I pulled out a leather roll and unrolled it. My daggers and small collection of other knives. It brought a smile to my face as I remembered the way they felt in my hands before using them. Shit. I wasn't supposed to be getting off on this. I had changed. I wasn't this person anymore. I was a mom. That didn't matter though. It was a part of me no matter how much I wanted to deny it. I was a cold blooded killer and no matter how much I tried to forget it, it wasn't going away.

Venom nudged me. “you may be right about her.” He nodded towards the front of the van. I looked up at Trix who had a smile on her face as she strapped a knife to her thigh.

“It’s in her blood. She can’t not do it.” I grinned at Venom who just shook his head.

I looked around the van. These were my boys. My team. Each and every one of us would die for one another. Except one. One of them I hadn’t worked with much. Payne. But he was one of us. A brother. If he didn’t do what we came here to do then I would put a bullet in the back of his head and enjoy the fucking shit out of it. Let’s see how he reacts to watching her make someone bleed. I’m not sure he has it in him to take her on once he sees her work. Knowing she could do the same to him. I hoped she would do the same to him. Shit maybe I would put a little bug in her ear about him having an ulterior motive with her. She wouldn’t hesitate to take him out if she had to.

The van slowed to a stop. “Ready boys?” They all nodded, pulling a stocking mask over their faces. Trix turned to us in the back waiting for the go ahead. She also wore a black ski mask. I pulled my gun and double checked the chamber before I made the go motion. We all piled out of the van. I pulled Trix in front of me as we crossed the street. Venom and Payne went around as Trix and I went through the back. We stopped at the tree line. The back of the house was lit up. We could see people moving around. I pulled out my phone and sent a text to Venom. 3. He sent back 2. I looked over at Trix. She nodded. I stuffed my phone back in my pocket and with my glock in one hand I followed the tree line with Trix right behind me. When we got to the side of the house I motioned for her to get ready.

I held up three fingers as I counted down to one. When I hit one we both stepped out and turned to the house, I kicked in the back door with my gun drawn and Trix coming in behind me. She shot first. Shooting the first guy in the knee. I shot the second guy in the shoulder and then again in the chest. I look for the third as Trix jets down a hallway. I follow running after her. I hear more commotion in the front of the house. She kicks open a door with her gun drawn. Inside the room was a woman and a man who was standing in front of her. Shit. She stood there gun drawn and pulled her mask up.

“Remember me?” she asked with a faint smile on her face.

They both shook their heads no.

“I think you do. And that’s a problem.”

“We won’t say anything. I swear I wasn’t going to say anything.” The woman begged. The man stood in front of her his face showing no emotion.

“You.” She looked at the man. “You know what’s about to happen?”

He nodded.

“Got anything you want to say?”

“Fuck you! You stupid fucking cunt. You won’t get away with this.” He started forward. She shot. Hitting him right between the eyes. The woman screamed and jumped at her. I tried to grab her before she got to Trix but I didn’t have a good shot. They were too close. The woman knocked her down. Trying to get past her, I grabbed at the girl but when I pulled up, her body was limp. I tossed her body to the side as Trix sat up, wiping her knife on her leg before holstering it back on her thigh. The sight of her was making my dick hard. I needed to get back to the clubhouse before I bent her over and fucked her in front of everyone. Dead bodies included. I held out my hand and helped her up, before turning around. Payne and Venom were right behind me. “Let’s roll.”

I walked into the kitchen and looked around, there were bottles of liquor everywhere. I found a bottle of Everclear in a glass bottle and unscrewed the lid. I stuffed a rag from the counter into the bottle and lit it. “Everyone out?”

I followed everyone to the back door before I threw the bottle at the furthest wall and ran out. We needed to get back to the clubhouse and keep our ears to the ground. Make sure we got everything handled before I lifted the lockdown. We ran back the way we came. Red was waiting in the van. We all jumped in the back and sat back against the side. As Red pulled away, I pulled my ski mask over my face and looked over at Trix who was leaning her head back against the van.

“Have any problems?” I asked Venom and Payne.

“Nah it went smooth. They got one or two shots off but nothing hit us.”

“Good.” We rode the rest of the way to the clubhouse in silence.
