Luna's Sokjan (Book one) (39 page)

Gabriel placed the laptop
on the dresser before he walked back to the bed.

“I don’t know. I guess it
could, if you wanted it to.” I told him.

I sat up on my elbows.
Gabriel sat back down on the bed and pulled off his
shoes.

“What are you doing?” I
finally asked him
.

He crawled up my body
pushing me back down on to the bed.

“I have an idea that might
change your mood.” He told me running his hands under my shirt to
cup my breasts.

“Sex doesn’t change
everything Gabriel.” I told him running my fingers through his
short hair.

“No, but it does make you
feel better and I like the way you moan my name or the way you
groan when I touch you in the right spots.” He kissed my belly.
“But mostly I love the way you feel next to me.” I groaned when he
placed a kiss just under my breast and another in the valley
between them. “I want you to take a nap and stop thinking for a
while.”

“I am not tired, and I
have other things to do, before we go to cat town tonight.” I said
softly.

I arched up when he kissed
the top of each breast.

“I’m going to help you
relax enough to go to sleep, my love.” He whispered against my
skin.

I felt the warm stroke of
his power surround me and my power surfaced to mingle with his. I
loved the feeling of our combined powers when we were making
love.

“Just how are you going to
make me relax that much, love?” I asked him pulling his head
up.

He looked down into my
lite blue eyes, just before he kissed me.

“Relax Branwen and sleep.”
He whispered against my lips.

I tried to laugh, but I
couldn’t, bastard, I was too tired to fight him off and I fell
asleep with him still lying on top of me.

Chapter 24

The stars were gleaming in
the moonless night as they flickered in and out, hiding behind
clouds as they played hide and go seek with the earth below. A cold
wind blew across the roof promising tonight would be another cold
one. I lay gazing up at the blinking stars and sorted through the
new information we had found on Anthony’s laptop.

Daniel contacted him a
year ago and offered him anything he had to help him get rid of
Gabriel. Daniel wanted the wolf pack gone, and he decided that if
he took out Gabriel the rest of the pack would disband, leaving the
cat clan to take over their territory. Apparently Daniel didn’t
think that someone else would take Gabriel’s position. They had
used the girls as payment for dealing with the devil, Myurr. There
had been many more women than we knew about. They had started out
with human girls, until they needed more power and that’s when they
started taking shifters.

The plan had changed
several times as the year went by, but the end objective remained
the same. Use Gabriel’s power to open the portal to bring Myurr
over and he would be their slave. What Daniel didn’t know was good
old Anthony wanted all the power for himself and was going to kill
Daniel, after Myurr arrived.

As for my part in this
insane venture, I would either become Daniel’s mate or Anthony
slave. Daniel couldn't decide which option would be more beneficial
to him. Anthony had already decided for him. I was going to be
Anthony’s endless supply of energy and together with Myurr. We
would have made him the strongest witch in the area.

Crazy people honestly
shouldn’t keep diaries, but it was gratifying to know how
everything fit together.

If, Tiberius had been
aware of what his son was doing. That would be another issue all
together. We were going to ask him tonight when we finally got to
Cat Town. I focused on what I remembered about Daniel, average
height, big build, weak power, and he was a lion. He would outweigh
me pound for pound, but that was okay.

I tried to decide which
fighting style he would prefer. He didn’t feel like a sword man to
me. His chosen style of combat would probably be claws and teeth,
meaning he would have to change.

I doubted that Daniel had
spent most of his life fighting, as I had. So I had an advantage
over him. It truly didn’t matter. He was going to die tonight. I
was going to kill him, and that single detail was all that really
mattered.

Now that, everything had
been decided, I felt better. So when, Jennifer’s head entered my
line of sight, and blocked out the night sky, I smiled up at
her.

“We’re ready to go,
McKenna.” She smiled down at me and then offered me her hand. “We
all get to go.” She told me proudly. “Gabriel said since we helped
so much. We should see how it ended. We can’t get involved though.
If, something goes wrong we are to run and hide.”

I wrapped an arm around
her as we headed for the door.

“What else did he say?” I
asked her.

“That’s about it, watch,
run and hide. Does he think that we will get in the way somehow? We
grew up in the pack and we do understand how things work.” She
complained.

“You never know what you
will do until you are faced with the situation Jennifer.” I told
her, “If someone tries to kill you, I know that I will kill that
person without a second thought. You’re not ready to jump into this
kind of fight. Remember my fight with Estella or the fight at the
restaurant?”

We entered the sitting
room, so I could get my jacket.

“Yes.” She answered
me.

“It will be like that,
only we’re not sure how the cat clan will act after losing one of
their own. That’s why if something does happen to us. Ya need to
run and hide.” I told her and slid my cell phone into her coat
pocket. “Call anyone and everyone listed in my phone. They will
take you and the boys to safety. Jennifer, always have a backup
plan.”

“This is big time isn’t? I
mean this is what you really do. No more playing games, this time
with the cat clan. You are really going to kill Daniel.” She asked
and sounded a little awed. “What happens if you get really hurt and
you can’t finish the fight?”

“Then Gabriel will step in
and finish the job for me, wounded or not. It would be his
responsibility.” I answered her.

We had reached the top of
the stairs.

“Can he beat you McKenna?”
She asked me.

The tension in her voice
caught my attention. I stopped and tilted her face up to
mine.

“I can beat him, little
shewolf. He will pay for the role he played and what they did to
those poor girls.” I promised her.

And one day I’ll get
Myurr, and he will pay for taking those girls.

“But Anthony got away. You
said that the devil thing took him when he disappeared.” She
pointed out.

“I’ll tell you a little
secret, pinky promise me you will never tell anyone.” I
said.

I held out the pinky of my
right hand, and she hooked it with the pinky of her left one, and
we shook.

“I killed him when no one
was looking.” I whispered to her.

While, Gabriel and Myurr
fought I had sat next to Anthony’s body. It had been easy to stick
my dagger into his throat and let him bleed out while everyone was
watching the action.

“Really, you killed him.”
She said in a shocked voice. “With all those men there watching
everything that was going on.”

“Men over look women most
of the time, that makes it easy to do things and get away with it.”
I told her with a shrug, “It also makes it easier to get things
done sometimes.”

“Are the two of you going
to come down the stairs or are you going to stand up there and talk
all night?” Gabriel called out.

Gabriel’s wounds were
healing extremely quickly. Probably due to all the extra healing
chants the kids were doing on him. Man, he was being such a
fantastic sport. Sometimes when you learned new incantations or
ritual strange things can happen. I had been watching him closely,
I wasn’t sure if I wanted him growing any extra limbs or his skin
to boil off. Though the extra limbs might make sex more
entertaining, hmmm, maybe if it did happen I might want to give
that some thought. Jennifer and I walked down the stairs. I
pondered all the uses of extra limbs
.

“What would you do with an
extra limb?” I asked him when we reached the bottom of the
stairs.

“You mean like an extra
hand?” he asked.

He took my hand and led
the way to the cars.

“Yes, a whole extra limb,
hand and all.” I said climbing in the passenger seat, and Jennifer
climbed in the back.

“Well it would give me an
extra hand to spank your bottom with.” He grinned at me.

Jennifer giggled in the
back seat.

No, extra limbs for him,
thank you very much.

“Why do you ask? Been
thinking about Myurr?” he asked with a jealous under
tone.

“What? No, just
wondering.” At his gaze, I elaborated, “Sometime strange things can
happen when you’re first learning a new spell or chant.”

“Like growing extra
limbs?” He grinned at me. “Wondering what I might do with an extra
hand, huh?” He asked before he leaned in and kissed me. “I’ll show
you when we get back.” He whispered against my lips.

Oh boy, I grinned back at
him.

Every member of the cat
clan was there when we arrived. There must have been over two
hundred people. If something did go wrong, there would be a lot of
people to wade through. We had bought twenty, maybe twenty five men
with us. I hoped it would be enough. I grabbed Gabriel’s arm when
he started to get out of the car
.

“Do you think that
Tiberius knew about any of this?” I asked him watching people walk
around.

“No. The Alpha is sworn to
protect his people and by the look on his face when you told him I
had been shot. I don’t think he had anything to do with any of
this.” He replied. “It would be out of character for him, I
think.”

I nodded, “That’s what I
have been thinking. Did you bring all the emails to show him?” I
asked him.

“Yes, we brought the
emails, the laptop, and the cell phone. We brought everything we
needed to prove that Daniel was involved. Why?” He asked and looked
at me. “What is the problem McKenna?”

He squeezed my
hand.

“I just want Tiberius to
have all the information.” I said with a shrug. “I like him, and
this is going to be a big blow. This job sucks when you actually
know the people involved.”

We sat in silence for a
moment.

“Okay
,
let’s get this over with.” I said
and opened the door to get out.

The crowd parted to let us
through. I listened to the murmurs of the crowd as we passed. Most
of it was speculation as to what we wanted, but some wanted to know
what I had done now.

As we neared the main
house we could see Tiberius was waiting for us. Daniel was standing
beside him.

“Greetings Tiberius, Alpha
of the Watauga cat clan and Daniel, son of Tiberius,” Gabriel
greeted them as he placed his right fist over his
heart
.

I stared at Daniel and
waited for the greetings to be over with.

“Greetings and welcome to
my home, Gabriel, Alpha of the Castilian Springs wolf clan and
McKenna, your mate.” He had placed his right fist over his heart
also as he spoke.

“You do understand why we
are here?” I asked Tiberius.

“You have accused my son
of murder and kidnapping. Did you bring the proof I require?” He
asked me.

Sam stepped forward and
handed a file to Gabriel. He in return handed it to Tiberius. I
wanted to roll my eyes at all the formality, but I
didn’t.

I just stared at Daniel.
Was that sweat on his brow?

Tiberius red through the
email copies we had printed off for him. When he finished he handed
the papers over to Daniel. Daniel paled as he red through the
emails and looked at his father.

“Is it true Daniel? Is
this what you have been planning behind my back?” Tiberius asked
his son.

“Dad it’s not like that.”
Daniel started, but Tiberius cut him off.

“It’s not like what
Daniel?” he demanded. “You weren’t planning to kill the Alpha of
the wolf clan or use his mate as battery source?”

“Dad, if we want our clan
to grow, we need more resources.” Daniel replied evading the
question.

Fuck this, we had all the
evidence we needed to prove his involvement. Well, all the evidence
I needed anyway. If, Tiberius wanted his son to come right out and
acknowledge what he had done. He might be in for a long wait.
Daniel was weak and hid behind greater more powerful men, waiting
for his chance to fuck everything up. Personally
,
I just wanted to get this over
with and go home.

Tiberius took a menacing
step towards his son, “Is this what you have been planning?” He bit
the words out, “Behind my back?”
