It was the wolf from the
forest! I would know those amber eyes anywhere. They had been
plaguing my dreams for the last couple of nights. The hulking brute
took me by the shoulders and pulled me to my feet. I quickly
dropped my eyes.

“Look at me,” he commanded
me softly.

I felt his power move
around me. Meeting his burning amber eyes again, I stared at him in
horror at the desire I saw in them. I tried to break free from his
vise grip on my shoulders.

“Recognize me as your one
true mate.” He said softly.

Thinking only to escape
him, I hit him in the chest with my power. Instead of the lethal
strike, I had intended. My power blended with his. I caught his
faint smile, before his lips touched mine. I drowned in his taste
and scent.

“Mate,” whispered through
my mind, and I was lost.

He pulled away from me and
stared down into my grey eyes. I reached up to touch his
cheek.

“Yes.” I whispered back to
him, holding his glowing amber eyes with my grey glowing ones. “You
are my one true mate.”

With a pleased laugh, he
crushed me to him, “What is your name, little one?” He whispered
against my hair.

“I am Branwen.” I answered
against his chest.

“My brothers and sisters,”
he called out to the stunned crowd around us, “Welcome, my mate and
your queen, Branwen.”

This wasn’t happening!
This wasn't real. It could only be a dream. I had found my one true
mate, and I didn’t even know his name. Oh, fate was a wicked
bitch!

The warmth from Gabriel’s
hand on my breast woke me up, and I stared into his amber eyes.
Lovingly I placed a hand on his cheek and leaned up to kiss
him.

“Where is Jennifer?” I
asked and looked for the girl.

Then I noticed that I was
lying in our big bed, instead of the couch in the other
room
.

“She is tucked safe and
warm in her bed. Why were ya sleeping on the couch when we all
these nice big beds to sleep in?” He asked me with a
smile.

I stretched against him,
“We fell asleep watching a movie. I thought you said you wouldn’t
be home until tomorrow.” I said to him.

“I couldn’t stay away from
ya another night.” He told me in his thick Scottish
voice
.

He bent his head to run
his lips down my neck.

“Ah, worried that I might
go vampire hunting without you?” I laughed.

“There’s that too.” He
agreed and glanced up at me with a grin
.

“Do you remember the very
first time we met, Gabriel?” I asked.

He stared at me for a
moment before rolling over on to his back and pulled me up against
him.

“I remember it like it
happened yesterday, love.” He said stroking my hair. “You flew over
that old, rotten log. Like the devil himself was after you. You
took me completely by surprise. You were the last thing I thought I
would find in the forest that day.” He chuckled. “And then those
three grey wolves came crashing after you. I thought I would lose
my mind. I had finally found my mate, and she was in danger. When
the fight was over I looked everywhere for you, but you were gone.
I went back to camp and figured out a plan to find you.
So
,
I summoned
every family, every person in the area together for a great moot. I
sat through family after family waiting for you to show up and then
I saw you. I had never seen anyone as beautiful as you, dressed in
that simple green dress. You weren’t paying any attention to what
was going on around you. I always wondered what you were thinking
about.” He said folding an arm behind his head.

“How much longer it would
be, before I could lose my cousins and escape the feast. So I could
go running through the forest.” I told him.

He chuckled
again.

“Figures it would be
something like that. While
,
other girls were trying to figure out how to get
the king alone to themselves, you were planning your escape.” He
kissed the top of my head. “I had planned to introduce myself to
you and your parents, but you gave me such a look of
horror
.
I knew I
had to act quickly, or I would be searching for you
again.”

“I had a dream about it
tonight.” I told him.

“Good
,
your memories are coming back.” He
said quietly. “Did you dream about what happened after I finally
got you alone?”

“No, just meeting you.” I
smiled. “I think I know what happened that night.”

“Do you?” he asked and
rolled me over. With a huge smile he loomed over me. “We spent the
rest of the night and the next few days locked in our chambers
getting to know each other very, very well.”

I laughed as I wrapped my
arms around his thick neck, “When did you finally tell me your
name?” I asked.

“During the feast, I
figured you needed to know what name to scream when I made love to
you.” He chuckled nipping my bottom lip. “You couldn’t keep your
hands off of me during the feast. It was almost embarrassing the
way you kept pawing at me in front of everyone.”

“More likely it was you
who couldn’t keep his hands to himself.” I said in a laugh, “I love
you, Cullen Gabriel, with all my heart now and forever.”

“And I love you Branwen
McKenna, now and forever.” He sealed our commitment with a
kiss.
